Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah from The Watchman

It’s unfortunate that I even have to mention this during a season of joy. You’ve no doubt heard the news by now that President Obama chose the eve of Christmas and Hanukkah to deliver his final, shameful betrayal of Israel at the UN. Anyone who has followed the President’s track record and views on Israel (dating back to before he was elected in 2008) was, sadly, not surprised by this move. Infuriated and ashamed? Yes. Motivated to work even harder to strengthen the bond between America and Israel in 2017? Absolutely. Our team at “The Watchman” show is optimistic that things will take a turn for the better in the U.S./Israel relationship when the Trump administration enters office in a few short weeks and that sanity will be restored.

In the meantime, I can head out to Christmas Eve services tonight with my family and feel perfect peace. I know that God still sits on the throne–and despite the schemes of men, His Word make abundantly clear that Israel will not only survive but thrive. As I worship in church tonight, I’ll be celebrating the birth of my Savior, a Jewish carpenter from the Galilee region of Israel named Jesus who came to redeem the world. No ridiculous UN resolution can erase the joy from my heart or the smile from my face when I consider that awesome blessing from God above. So God bless you, and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah!
